Welcome to my online portfolio,
where I get to share my art with the world.

Here is a bit of info about myself and what drives me to paint.

About me

Originally from Crewe in the North-West of England, I now live in Wellington,
New Zealand with my wife and daughter.

I love to capture the unique beauty of New Zealand in my landscapes. Oils are my main medium of choice, however I also enjoy using watercolours and acrylics depending on what I'm trying to achieve.

As a graphic designer, I am fortunate to have studied art and design to degree standard – encompassing art history, colour theory, graphic comunication and many painting styles and techniques. These are always useful skills and practices to refer back to (I have recently rediscovered the joy of linocut).

My latest work is a series based on Mt Kaukau and the surrounding hills and streams in Wellington. I walk the tracks and, weather permitting - set up my easel and attempt to capture the peace and stillness to be found there. Larger studio paintings are then created using these as a base.

I am a member of the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts (NZAFA), and regularly show work at exhibitions along with other galleries and organisations.
